Privacy policy

Who is responsible

Studia (Cluj-Napoca, Romania) runs Studia at askstudia.com and is responsible for your personal data. You can reach us at contact@askstudia.com.

What we collect

  • Account: your email address, your password (stored only as a salted hash, never in plain text), your language, and the dates of creation, confirmation and last log-in.
  • Conversations: your questions and the answers, and the images you generate, so that you can come back to them.
  • Usage counters: how many questions you ask per day and how many images you make per month, to apply the limits.
  • Security data: failed log-in attempts, stored as scrambled (hashed) values of the email address and the IP address, for a short time, to slow down password guessing. The server may also record IP addresses briefly in its technical logs.

We do not use advertising or analytics trackers, and we do not sell your data.

Why we use it

To give you the service you asked for: your account, your answers and your saved conversations (necessary for the contract with you).

To keep the service secure and to limit abuse and costs (our legitimate interest).

To send you the emails about your account: confirming your address and resetting your password.

Who receives data

We use service providers who process data on our behalf:

  • AI providers (Anthropic and/or OpenAI) receive your question, the last messages of the conversation and excerpts of the content the answer is based on, to write the answer. OpenAI also turns your question into numbers (embeddings) for search. They do not receive your email address or your name.
  • Black Forest Labs, and the AI that writes the image instruction, receive the description of the image you ask for.
  • Contabo hosts the server where the data is stored.
  • Infomaniak (Switzerland) sends the emails about your account.

Some of these providers may process data outside the EU/EEA. Where that happens, it is covered by the safeguards the law requires, such as standard contractual clauses. Please do not type personal data of patients or other people into your questions.

The shared image library

Images that you add to the shared library are shown to other students without your name. They stay there if you later delete your account, with no link to you.

How long we keep data

Your account data and conversations are kept until you delete them. You can delete a conversation, all your conversations, or your whole account on the Account page. Deleting the account removes your email address, your conversations and your private images.

Failed log-in records and technical logs are kept only for a short time.

Cookies

We only use cookies that the site needs: one that keeps you logged in and protects the forms, and one that remembers your language (for one year). Because there are no tracking or advertising cookies, there is no cookie banner.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable format. Write to contact@askstudia.com. You can delete your account yourself at any time.

You can also complain to a data protection authority. In Romania this is ANSPDCP (dataprotection.ro); you can also contact the authority of the country where you live.

Age

Studia is for people aged 16 or over. We do not knowingly collect data from younger children.

Changes

If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we will tell you in the app or by email.
